Frescoes in the Former Engine Room (residency EDU AIR Banská Stanica Contemporary)

As part of a residency in Banská Štiavnica, we had the opportunity to work with several different dilapidated buildings. Among the remains of Renaissance palaces, an abandoned former mine engine room finally attracted us (also by its reasonable size). The layers of history, crumbling walls, and abandoned space became a ground for small experiments with plaster, different layering and scratching techniques, and play with pigments. A challenge was also working with dark tones, usually avoided in living spaces. At the opening, guests saw the frescoes in candlelight.
