Fresco for the Office of the Public Defender of Rights

The Ombudsman's office protects individuals from the actions of authorities and other institutions when such actions are against the law, contradict the principles of a democratic rule of law and good governance, or when the authorities are inactive. It also carries out preventive systematic visits to places where people may be deprived of their liberty, ensuring respect for their basic rights. The Ombudsman further contributes to the enforcement of the right to equal treatment and protection from discrimination, and systematically addresses the rights of people with disabilities and their fulfillment.

The fresco was created at the time when Anna Šabatová was the Public Defender of Rights, together with her team. We encountered a very human face of this necessary office, and it was a joy to work with concepts such as equality, law, and support. As feedback, we received a gift from the office's garden: honey from their beehives.

The frescoes for her office attempted to embody these qualities as well. Formally, they reflected the character and specific visuality of the office space. In mood, we aimed to maintain clear tones of direct colors, expressing a desire to preserve the joyful, hopeful atmosphere associated with Anna Šabatová.
